What you will study

The Master of Financial Management requires the completion of 48 units, which must consist of:

42 units from completion of compulsory courses from the following list:

  • Financial Statements and Reporting (six units)
  • Applied Foundations of Finance (six units)
  • Applied Corporate Finance (six units)
  • Applied Investments (six units)
  • Topics in International Finance (six units)
  • Regression Modelling (six units)
  • Introductory Statistics for Business and Finance (six units)

Six units from completion of courses from the following list:

  • Business Economics (six units)
  • Financial Mathematics (six units)

Entry requirements

To be eligible for admission to the course, applicants must present one of the following:

  • A bachelor's degree or international equivalent in a cognate discipline with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0.
  • A graduate certificate or international equivalent in a cognate discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.0/7.0.
  • A graduate diploma or international equivalent in a cognate discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.0/7.0.

In line with the university's admissions policy and strategic plan, an assessment for admission may include competitively ranking applicants on the basis of specific academic achievement, English language proficiency and diversity factors. However, applicants will first be ranked on a GPA ('GPA1') that is calculated using all but the last semester (or equivalent) of the Bachelor's degree used for admission purposes. If required, ranking may further be confirmed on the basis of:

  • A GPA ('GPA2') calculated on the penultimate and antepenultimate semesters (or equivalent) of the Bachelor's degree used for admission purposes; and/or
  • Demonstrating higher-level English language proficiency.

Prior to enrolment in this ANU program, all students who gain entry will have their Bachelor's degree reassessed to confirm that the minimum requirements were met.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Credit eligibility for this program is as follows:

  • Up to a maximum of 24 units from prior incomplete postgraduate studies.
  • Credit is not available for prior completed studies at either the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
