Examine public ethics, stewardship and values through five days of peer-based learning, shared enquiry and practical frameworks for leaders across federal, state and local government.
Course overview
The Public Sector Colloquium is a five-day program for leaders across Australia’s public sector who are committed to leading with integrity from roles in federal, state or local government. It addresses complex issues relating to integrity, governance, sustainability, technology and leading people through volatility.
Through questions, provocations, frameworks and experiences, the program guides leaders to respond authentically and ethically to these challenges. Using the Cranlana Model of peer-based learning and shared enquiry, participants learn from and alongside one another while reflecting on and challenging one another and themselves. Themes include values and purpose, fairness in work and society, moral agency and courage, ethical and critical thinking, public ethics, stewardship and the meaning and practice of ethical leadership.
Learning tools include guided readings, digital materials, practical tools, decision-making and ethical frameworks, thought experiments, role plays, case studies and guest presenters with relevant lived experience. Participants re-evaluate their leadership practice within an ethical context and take away frameworks for decision-making in the face of ethical complexity, alongside tools to normalise ethical issues and role-model integrity.
