  • Course Type: Master's

Advance your professional psychology training through an APAC-accredited program integrating clinical assessment, evidence-based intervention, supervised placements and independent research across mental and physical health.

Course overview

The Curtin University Master of Clinical Psychology is designed for applicants who have already completed APAC Level 3 professional psychology training and want to develop advanced capability in clinical psychology. The course builds the specialist knowledge, skills and professional experience required to work with complex psychological and mental health needs.

Study explores the causes, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders affecting adults, children and young people. You will develop advanced capability in psychopathology, psychotherapy, culturally responsive assessment and intervention, ethical decision-making and the evaluation of contemporary clinical practice.

Experiential learning is integrated through two 50-day clinical placements completed under the supervision of a registered clinical psychologist. You will apply skills in psychological assessment, case conceptualisation and treatment while also completing an independent research project involving research design, data analysis and a dissertation.

Completed on campus at Curtin Perth over one year of full-time study, the APAC-accredited course provides the sixth year of professional psychology education. Graduates may be eligible to apply for general registration as a psychologist, subject to Psychology Board of Australia requirements and can subsequently undertake a registrar program towards clinical psychology endorsement.

Commonwealth Supported Places

The Australian Government allocates a certain number of CSPs to the universities each year, which are then distributed to students based on merit.

If you're a Commonwealth Supported Student (CSS), you'll only need to pay a portion of your tuition fees. This is known as the student contribution amount – the balance once the government subsidy is applied. This means your costs are much lower.

Limited CSP spaces are offered to students enrolled in selected postgraduate courses.

Your student contribution amount is:

  • Calculated per the course you're enrolled in.
  • Dependent on the study areas they relate to.
  • Reviewed and adjusted each year.

Student fees shown are subject to change. Contact the university directly to confirm.

HECS-HELP loans are available to CSP students to pay the student contribution amount.

FEE-HELP loans are available to assist eligible full-fee-paying domestic students with the cost of a university course.
