Course overview
This course will equip you to teach with provisional registration in WA secondary schools after one year of full-time study. A key feature of this course is 50 days of professional experience, which will allow you to make the essential connection between theory and practice whilst building both professional and generic skills in real teaching environments. This course is delivered through partnerships between the University and individual schools, allowing you to gain experience in a range of settings, including public, metropolitan, rural, regional and remote schools. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to teach in a major and minor area of study in secondary schools in both the private and government sectors.

This program has a limited quota of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP). The indicative CSP price is calculated based on first year fees for EFT. The actual fee may vary if there are choices in electives or majors.

Academic Admission requirements (Band 6)
The following course-specific admission requirements are mandatory and must be satisfied by all applicants. These requirements are in addition to, or supersede, the minimum requirements outlined in the Academic admission requirements band section below.
All applicants are required to have a discipline-specific bachelor's or equivalent qualification relevant to the Australian Curriculum or other recognised areas of school provision. Professional experience cannot be accepted as an alternative to completing the bachelor's degree. These course-specific requirements supersede the minimum academic admission requirements for Band 6. Applicants must be able to demonstrate advanced skills and knowledge in a particular discipline to enrol in a central area of specialisation (eg, a Major in their bachelor's degree) and intermediate skills to enrol in a minor area of specialisation (eg, a Minor in their bachelor's degree) and provide a resume.

Academic admission requirements (Band 6) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience.
English Language requirements (Band 5)
International students must attain an IELTS Academic with an average level of 7.5 or more, across the four components of listening, speaking, reading and writing; no score below level 7.0 in any of these components; and a score of 8.0 or more in the components of speaking and listening. Internationally schooled applicants may also be required to meet this requirement.
English competency requirements may also be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree or master's degree from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the USA.
- Undergraduate degree taught in English from a South African University.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Successful applicants with a graduate certificate qualification or higher in accounting may seek reduced course duration by applying for recognition of prior learning.

Fees and CSP
Estimated first-year tuition fee in 2026: $4,750 (Commonwealth Supported Place).
All costs are calculated using current rates and are based on a study load of eight credit points (normally eight units) per year.
A student’s annual fee may vary by:
- The number of units studied per term.

- Choice of units.
- Credit from previous study or work experience.
- Eligibility for government-funded loans.

Commonwealth Supported Places
The Australian Government allocates a certain number of CSPS to the universities each year, which are then distributed to students based on merit.
If you're a Commonwealth Supported Student (CSS), you only need to pay some of your tuition fees. The student contribution amount is the balance once the government subsidy is applied. This means your costs are much lower.
Limited CSP spaces are offered to students enrolled in selected postgraduate courses.
Your student contribution amount is:

- Dependent on the study areas they relate to.
- Reviewed and adjusted each year.
HECS-HELP loans are available to CSP students to pay the student contribution amount.
