Course Overview
In the Master of Entrepreneurship you will learn how to develop new businesses, products, services, or processes, creating value and generating new revenue growth through entrepreneurial thought and action. Students will learn about the latest concepts, frameworks, tools and techniques to identify and successfully implement new business opportunities. During the course of the year, there will be many opportunities to interact with and learn from (corporate) entrepreneurs and put obtained knowledge, tools and skills into practice.
The course has been redesigned to allow students to choose an area of interest, whether that is entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship. In the intrapreneurship specialisation, students will learn the why, when and how organisations can engage in corporate entrepreneurship, equipping them to support organisations to grow and become more innovative by embracing an entrepreneurial mindset.

What you will study
The 100-point Master of Entrepreneurship consists of:
- Four compulsory subjects (50 points).
- Three constrained elective subjects (37.5 points).
- One elective subject from the approved elective options (12.5 points).
Students must complete ALL of the following subjects:
- Business Model Innovation
- Seminars in Entrepreneurial Finance
- Managing Growth
- Entrepreneur Within
Entry requirements
Academic requirements
To be considered for entry into this course, you must have one of the following:
- A bachelor honours degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65% (or equivalent).
- A three-year undergraduate qualification and at least 50 credit points (or equivalent) of graduate study in a related discipline with a WAM of at least 65% (or equivalent).
- A three-year undergraduate qualification in a related discipline AND at least two years of documented relevant work experience.
- A minimum of eight years of documented relevant work experience.
You must also:
- Submit a personal statement of no more than 1000 words outlining why you wish to be considered for this course.
- If shortlisted, attend an interview.
Disciplines related to this course include business, economics or similar.
Work experience relevant to this course may include roles in industries such as innovation, business development or entrepreneurship.
English language requirements
All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved in a number of ways, including recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English language test.
If you are from a non-English speaking background, the required standard of English for this degree is one of the following English proficiency test scores:
- IELTS (Academic) – 7.0 overall, with no band less than 6.0.
- TOEFL IBT – minimum score of 94, with writing 27; speaking 18; reading 13; listening 13.
- PTE – minimum score of 72, with written communicative skill of 75 and no other communicative skill below 60.
- Cambridge – minimum score of 185, with no less than 185 in writing and no less than 169 in each other skill.
