What you will study
To complete the Master of Banking and Finance, you must complete 16 units (96 credit points). It consists of Part A. Advance Preparatory 4 units (24 credit points), Part B. Mastery Knowledge 8 units (48 credit points) and Part C. Application Studies 4 units (24 credit points).
Master's entry points
Depending on prior qualifications you may receive entry level credit (a form of block credit) which determines your point of entry to the course:
- If you are admitted at entry level 1 you complete 96 credit points, comprising Part A, Part B and Part C.
- If you are admitted at entry level 2 you complete 72 credit points, comprising Part B and Part C.
- If you are admitted at entry level 3 you complete 48 credit points, comprising Part B.
Note: Students eligible for credit for prior studies may elect not to receive the credit and complete one of the higher credit-point options.
Complete the following units:
- Accounting for Business (six credit points)
- Financial Management Theory (six credit points)
- Economics (six credit points)
- Business Statistics (six credit points)
Entry requirements
Entry level 1: 96 points to complete
Duration: Two years full-time, four years part-time
- An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) and achieved at least a credit (60%) average or an equivalent grade point average (GPA).
Entry level 2: 72 points to complete
Duration: 1.5 years full-time, three years part-time
Applicants must have one of the following:
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline with at least a credit (60%) average or equivalent qualification and experience approved by the faculty.
- An Australian graduate certificate (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline with at least a credit (60%) average or equivalent qualification and experience approved by the faculty.
- A four-year Australian bachelor honours degree (or equivalent) with at least a credit (60%) average or equivalent qualification and experience approved by the faculty.
- Successful completion of a Monash University Graduate Certificate of Business
Entry level 3: 48 points to complete
Duration: One year full-time, two years part-time
- An Australian bachelor's honours degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline with at least a credit (60%) average or equivalent qualification and experience approved by the faculty, which has not been used as a basis for entry to another course within the Monash Business School.
English language requirements
For entry to Monash University, you must meet the minimum English language requirements. You can do this by completing one of the qualifications listed on their website.
If you've completed several measures of English proficiency over a period of time, the highest valid measure will be accepted as long as it's been taken within the required time limitations.

Fees and FEE-HELP
Average 2025 first-year fee: $37,100 (domestic full-fee paying place)
All costs are calculated using current rates and are based on a study load of 24 credit points (normally four units) per semester or 48 credit points (normally eight units) per year.
A student’s annual fee may vary in accordance with:
- The number of units studied per term.
- The choice of major or specialisation.
- Choice of units.
- Credit from previous study or work experience.
- Eligibility for government-funded loans.
