What you will study
To complete the Master of Business Administration (MBA), you must fulfil 12 courses (120 units). You are required to complete the following to meet the requirements of the program:
- 60 units of core courses
- Either 60 units of courses chosen from the course list OR at least 40 units of courses from a specialisation plus 20 units of courses chosen from the course list.
Each course is valued at 10 units.
Students must complete all the core courses:

- Principles of Marketing Strategy
- Strategic Management
- Financial and Management Accounting
- Corporate Governance and Social Responsibility
- Leadership in Contemporary Organisations
Entry requirements
Academic requirements
Entry into the Master of Business Administration will be available to applicants who have one of the following:
- Bachelor's (honours) degree or an equivalent or higher qualification.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification, in a related field such as accounting, business, commerce, economics, finance, human resource management, industrial relations, management or marketing.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent or higher qualification, not in a related field and one year of relevant organisational experience.
- At least seven years of relevant organisational experience, including two years in a management position.
- Successful completion of 75 per cent (30 units) of one of the following University of Newcastle programs:
- Graduate Certificate in Business Administration
- Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance
- Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management
- Graduate Certificate in Marketing
- Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting
English language requirements
All applicants must demonstrate that they meet the following English proficiency requirements:
- IELTS Overall Minimum: 6.5
