In this program, you will learn how to identify and capitalise on opportunities in domestic and international industries while mitigating threats.
You will also gain a comprehensive understanding of the latest concepts, strategies and techniques of customer-centric marketing. These include value-based marketing, strategic marketing planning, consumer behaviour, market segmentation and targeting and marketing mix decisions.
Real-world learning is embedded in this course and from your very first semester you will meet and be taught by award-winning academics working in industry and prominent marketing professionals who often guest lecture in our units.

What you will study
The Master of Business is designed in three blocks of study (192 credit points):
- Foundation studies (48 credit points)
- Discipline studies (96 credit points)
- Complementary studies (48 credit points)
Unless otherwise indicated, each unit is worth 12 credit points.

Entry requirements
Two-year program
You must have a recognised bachelor's degree (or higher) in any discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
1.5-year program
You must have one of the following:
- A recognised bachelor's degree (or higher) in business or a related discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
- A recognised bachelor's degree (or higher) in any discipline with a minimum grade point average of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7 point scale) followed by at least seven years of full-time (or equivalent) work experience in business or a related discipline.
One-year program
You must have one of the following:
- A recognised bachelor's honours degree in advertising, marketing or public relations with a minimum grade point average of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
- A recognised bachelor's degree plus a graduate certificate both in advertising, marketing or public relations with a minimum grade point average of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
- A recognised graduate diploma (or higher) in advertising, marketing or public relations with a minimum grade point average of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
- A recognised bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing or public relations with a minimum grade point average of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale), followed by at least seven years full-time (or equivalent) work experience in advertising, marketing or public relations.
Recognition of Prior Learning
If you have completed the Graduate Certificate in Business (Marketing) within the last seven years you will receive credit for 48 credit points.
Advanced standing may also be available if you have done either within the last five years:
- Studied a related postgraduate program with another institution.
- Gained professional work experience in a related field.

Estimated first-year tuition fee in 2026: $36,600 (domestic full-fee paying place).
All costs are calculated using current rates and are based on a study load of 96 credit points (normally eight units) per year.
A student’s annual fee may vary in accordance with:
- The number of units studied per term.
- The choice of major or specialisation.
- Choice of units.
- Credit from previous study or work experience.
- Eligibility for government-funded loans.
You may also need to pay the student services and amenities fee.
