Course overview
Upon graduating, you will be able to lead and contribute to complex engineering management and engineering technology projects and respond rapidly and effectively to current and emerging local and global challenges, including the impacts of climate change, pollution, rapid urbanisation and rapid technological change.
Complete an industry project to apply the skills and knowledge developed in your engineering technology study area in an advanced problem domain. Develop an engineering solution to an industry problem while demonstrating culturally responsible professional engineering practice.

What you will study
To graduate with a Master of Engineering Management / Master of Engineering Technology, you must complete 192 credit points (16 units). Unless otherwise indicated, each unit is valued at 12 credit points.

Entry requirements
Artificial Intelligence in Medical Technology major
You must have:
- A recognised, completed four-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
- A recognised, completed three-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT's 7-point scale), plus at least two years of full-time (or equivalent) industry professional work experience in biomedical or medical engineering or technology, hospital or health service, medical device design and development or medical regulations and compliance.
Digital and Robotic Manufacturing major
You must have:
- A recognised completed four-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
- A recognised completed three-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT's 7-point scale) plus at least 2.00 years full-time (or equivalent) of professional work experience in manufacturing.
Renewable Energy Systems major
You must have:
- A recognised completed four-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
- A recognised completed three-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT's 7-point scale) plus at least 2.00 years full-time (or equivalent) of professional work experience in energy systems.
Renewable Power major
You must have:
- A recognised completed four-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
- A recognised completed three-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT's 7-point scale) plus at least 2.00 years full-time (or equivalent) of professional work experience in electrical power engineering.
Smart Transport & Mobility major
You must have:
- A recognised completed four-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
- A recognised completed three-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT's 7-point scale) plus at least 2.00 years full-time (or equivalent) of professional work experience in transport engineering.
Water Engineering major
You must have:
- A recognised completed four-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT’s 7-point scale).
- A recognised completed three-year full-time (or equivalent) engineering degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (on QUT's 7-point scale) plus at least 2.00 years full-time (or equivalent) of professional work experience in water engineering or modelling.
Recognition of Prior Learning
You may be able to have your past studies or work experience count as credit towards your QUT course. QUT call this 'advanced standing'. That means you might not have to complete all the units in your course structure. You may be able to graduate sooner.
