What will you study
To meet the course requirements for the Master in Project Management, students are required to complete 144 credit points comprising:
- 48 credit points of core foundation units in project management.
- 72 credit points of advanced core units in project management, including a 36 credit point research component.
- A 24 credit point minor or 24 credit points selected from project management general unit options

Entry requirements
1.5-year program
You must have one of the following:
- A recognised bachelor's degree (or higher) in built environment, business, engineering, or project management.
- A recognised bachelor's degree (or higher) in any discipline followed by at least six months of full-time (or equivalent) professional project management work experience.
- A recognised diploma (or higher) in project or program management followed by at least two years full-time (or equivalent) of professional project management work experience.
- Five years full-time (or equivalent) of professional project or program management work experience.
One-year program
You must have one of the following:
- A recognised graduate diploma (or higher) in built environment, business, engineering, or project management.
- A recognised bachelor's honours degree in built environment, business, engineering or project management.
- A recognised bachelor's honours degree (or higher) in any other discipline followed by at least six months of full time (or equivalent) professional project management work experience.
- A recognised bachelor's degree (or higher) in any discipline plus a recognised graduate certificate in built environment, business, engineering or project management.
- Successful completion of QUT's on-campus Graduate Certificate in Project Management or online Graduate Certificate in Project Management course.
Recognition of Prior Learning
If you are an experienced project management professional, your work experience and professional certification can be considered for reducing your course duration.
If you have successfully completed the QUT Project Management Open CPE Modules (including assessment), you are eligible for advanced standing (course credit) upon gaining entry into the Master of Project Management.
If you have completed QUT's Graduate Certificate of Project Management, you will receive 48 credit points of advanced standing (course credit) upon entry, reducing the course duration to one year.
