Entry requirements
Two-year duration
- Applicants must have an Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.
1.5-year duration (with advanced standing)
Applicants must have one of the following:
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, in a business or related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.
- An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent), or higher-level qualification, from a recognised tertiary institution in any discipline, plus a minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
- RMIT's Graduate Certificate in Finance.
One-year duration (with advanced standing)
- Applicants must have an Australian bachelor's honours degree, with a major in finance or a cognate discipline or equivalent.
Notes:
- You do not need to make a separate application for advanced standing (1.5-year duration). RMIT will assess your eligibility for advanced standing as part of your program application. However, if you would also like to be assessed for Recognition of Prior Learning, you must submit a detailed CV with your application. All assessments are made on a case-by-case basis.
- Suppose your qualification was completed more than 10 years ago. In that case, you will need to provide evidence of ongoing professional work and/or professional development in the same discipline as the program for which you are seeking entry.

Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will have developed the knowledge and skills required to proactively apply concepts, principles, theories and methods across all areas of finance, including risk management, legal practice and corporate governance, to help meet organisational goals. Graduates will also be able to analyse and evaluate financial models relevant to organisations or projects, and apply various research principles and methods when designing innovative solutions to challenges in contemporary business practice.
As students build knowledge in this discipline, the work-integrated learning component of the program will enable them to demonstrate what they have learned and identify key areas for focus and improvement.
Studies in this program will also teach graduates how to clearly communicate ideas and outcomes, negotiate issues and resolve conflicts, and engage with both specialist and non-specialist audiences in a socially responsible and ethical manner. In addition to being able to collaborate effectively and work autonomously across a range of contexts, graduates will also be empowered to pursue ongoing personal and professional development and continually expand their careers.
Fees and FEE-HELP
Estimated first-year tuition fee in 2026: $37,440 (domestic full-fee paying place).

All costs are calculated using current rates and are based on a study load of 96 credit points (normally eight units) per year.
