Build the strategic and practical capabilities to deliver complex projects through an AIPM-accredited degree, with an industry-recognised pathway towards Certified Practising Project Practitioner certification.
Course overview
Successful projects depend on more than schedules and budgets. The Master of Project Management at UNSW Canberra is designed for professionals and graduates seeking advanced capability to plan, govern and deliver complex projects across industry, government and Defence environments.
You will examine project requirements, administration, scheduling, budgeting and established project management frameworks. A broad elective portfolio enables you to connect these foundations with areas such as strategic management, procurement, organisational change, systems engineering, analytics and risk-informed decision-making.
Practical tasks reflect challenges encountered across contemporary project environments, while eligible students with strong academic results may apply to complete a research project. This pathway provides an opportunity to investigate an original project management topic and may support those considering further research study.
Accredited by the Australian Institute of Project Management, the degree provides an industry-recognised pathway towards Certified Practising Project Practitioner certification for eligible graduates who join AIPM. Delivered online, it can be completed in one year of full-time study or studied part-time and may support career development across project, program, operations, risk and portfolio management.
“I’m a very kinaesthetic visual learner, so having someone show me how to do causal loop diagrams [in intensive mode sessions] made so much more sense. There was also great value in the discussions between lectures — it really helped cement some concepts.”
Charmaine Montgomery, Master of Project Management student
