The Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation will teach you about understanding the role of entrepreneurship and innovation in modern business and the benefits they create, including better communities.

Students must complete 24 units comprising:
- Eight units for all MEI Core Courses
- Eight units from MEI Fields of Study
- Four units for all MEI Capstone Course
- Four units for MEI Elective Options
Each course is valued at two units unless otherwise indicated.
MEI Core Courses
Complete eight units for all of the following:
- Creativity for Innovation and Design Thinking
- Idea Management
- Managing Innovation
- Building Innovation Capability
MEI Fields of Study
Complete exactly eight units from the following:
- Biotechnology (eight units)
- Food Entrepreneurship (eight units)
- Design and Information Technology (eight units)
- Social and Community Entrepreneurship (eight units)
- Sustainable Energy (eight units)
Students may complete a field of study but it is not compulsory.
MEI Capstone Course
Complete four units for all of the following:
- Lean Start up for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (four units)
Entry requirements
Academic requirements
To be eligible for entry, you'll need one of the following:
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- The Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from UQ (or equivalent).
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, plus three years of full-time equivalent relevant work experience.
- The UQx Corporate Innovation MicroMasters® credential with 65 per cent in the Corporate Innovation Capstone Assessment, plus three years of full-time equivalent relevant work experience.
You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 4.5 on a seven-point scale in your previous qualification.
Relevant disciplines for previous qualifications
Relevant disciplines include a bachelor's degree specialising in at least one of the following areas: biotechnology, business, commerce, commercialisation, computer science, data analytics, economics, energy studies, engineering (business administration), entrepreneurship, environmental management, food sciences, health services/health practitioners, international development or international relations, information systems, innovation, management, science, strategy, sustainability or technology (agricultural, information, nano and bio).
Relevant work experience
Relevant work experience includes work in: biotechnology, business, commerce, commercialisation, computer science, data analytics, economics, energy, engineering (business administration), entrepreneurship, environmental management, food sciences, health services/health practitioners, international development or international relations, information systems, innovation, management, science, strategy, sustainability and technology (agricultural, information, nano and bio).
English language requirements
For international students, you must demonstrate that you meet one of the following English proficiency requirements:
- IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ.
- TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.
- PTE Academic - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.
- BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.
- CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.
OET is not accepted.
