Course overview

Successful projects require more than a clear objective. They depend on informed planning, effective coordination and the ability to manage time, costs, resources and people. Curtin’s Graduate Certificate in Project Management introduces the processes and capabilities used to guide projects from inception through to completion.

You will examine the foundations of project management, including its objectives, attributes, body of knowledge and measures of project success. Your studies explore the project life cycle alongside planning, organisation and control, with a focus on estimating, budgeting, scheduling, monitoring and reporting.

The course also considers the organisational factors that influence project performance. You will explore motivation, leadership, group processes, conflict, performance appraisal and work design, developing a broader understanding of how people and organisational structures affect project delivery. 

Delivered online, the course can be completed in six months of full-time study or the part-time equivalent. The qualification can also provide a pathway to Curtin’s Graduate Diploma in Project Management and subsequently the Master of Science (Project Management). Graduates can apply their project management knowledge across sectors including commerce, construction, education, engineering, health, information technology, marketing and research and development.

Entry requirements

Academic requirements

To be eligible for this course, you must meet one of the following requirements: 

  • Hold a bachelor's degree from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' management experience.

English language requirements

Curtin requires applicants to demonstrate English language proficiency. You can meet this requirement by providing evidence of one of the following:

  • An IELTS Academic overall band score of 6.5, with a minimum score of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • An alternative English language test accepted by Curtin, provided you achieve the required equivalent scores.
  • An eligible previous qualification or another form of English language evidence accepted by Curtin.
