  • Course Type: Graduate Diploma

Explore corporate finance, investment, financial markets and emerging technologies while gaining the analytical capabilities required to evaluate risk and financial opportunities.

Course overview

From digital innovation and sustainable finance to changing international markets, finance professionals must understand both established principles and emerging developments. Deakin University’s Graduate Diploma of Finance provides the technical and analytical knowledge needed to examine financial challenges and support informed business decisions.

You will develop an advanced understanding of financial markets, products and corporate finance while learning to interpret complex financial data. The course also strengthens your ability to assess risk, investigate emerging global finance issues and communicate financial concepts clearly to different audiences.

Four compulsory units establish foundations in finance, financial markets, sustainability and data analytics. You can then tailor the remaining half of the course through electives covering areas such as investment banking, portfolio management, financial risk, fintech, international finance and securities trading. Students without a previous business background are encouraged to complete selected foundation electives early in the course.

Studied at Deakin’s Burwood campus, the course can be completed in one year full-time or part-time equivalent. It can support a transition into financial services, strengthen expertise for existing professionals and provide a pathway to the Master of Finance.
