The Graduate Certificate in Laws is a graduate certificate level course in law for graduates of other disciplines. This is an innovative model of postgraduate education grounded in problem-based learning.
This course articulates with the 36 unit Graduate Diploma in Laws and the 108 unit Juris Doctor, and the sequentially developed topics enable progression through the 3 awards.
This course is also available as an exit award from the 36 unit Graduate Diploma in Laws and the 108 unit Juris Doctor, subject to meeting the requirements of the Program of Study below.
Graduates who complete the Graduate Certificate in Laws cannot be admitted to Legal Practice without completing further academic studies and practical training.

Entry Requirements
To be accepted into this course, applicants must meet at least one of the following entry requirements:
- Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in an area other than law.
- Hold a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in law that does not make them eligible to be admitted to practise law in Australia.

Fees and FEE-HELP
Annual indicative fee in 2026: $12,250 (domestic full-fee paying place)
The annual indicative fee is based on a full-time study load of 18 units.
A student’s annual fee may vary in accordance with:
- The number of units studied per term.
- The choice of major or specialisation.
- Choice of units.
- Credit from previous study or work experience.
- Eligibility for government-funded loans.
