Macquarie University’s Master of Commerce and Master of Management combines specialist business study with the broader capabilities required to lead organisations and respond to change. The double degree allows you to develop expertise in a chosen commerce discipline while strengthening your understanding of leadership, strategy, innovation and management.
You can specialise in areas such as accounting, economics, analytics, finance, financial technology, human resources, marketing or supply chain management. Your management studies explore global leadership, digital innovation, project delivery and organisational change. A compulsory management capstone connects your learning with contemporary business challenges, while elective options allow you to explore entrepreneurship, negotiation, people management, finance or an optional supervised business internship.
Delivered in person at Macquarie University’s North Ryde campus, the double degree can be completed in two years of full-time study or the equivalent part-time. You will graduate with two qualifications and adaptable capabilities relevant to consulting, finance, marketing, operations, technology, management and organisational leadership.

What you will study

Entry requirements
Academic requirements
To be eligible for this double degree, applicants must satisfy one entry option for the Master of Commerce and one entry option for the Master of Management.
Master of Commerce
Applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Hold an AQF level 7 bachelor’s degree in a related field or a recognised equivalent qualification.
- Hold an AQF level 7 bachelor’s degree or a recognised equivalent qualification and have at least two years of relevant approved professional experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning.
Related fields include accounting, actuarial studies, banking, business, commerce, economics, finance, insurance, international business, management, marketing, public or healthcare administration, supply chain and valuation.
Relevant experience must include at least two years of professional work within a business, including experience involving the financial or administrative aspects of one or more businesses.
Master of Management
Applicants must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Hold an AQF level 7 bachelor’s degree in a related field or a recognised equivalent qualification.
- Hold an AQF level 7 bachelor’s degree or a recognised equivalent qualification and have at least two years of relevant approved professional experience, professional certification or other recognised prior learning.
Related fields include accounting, actuarial studies, advertising, banking, business, commerce, communication, economics, finance, hospitality management, insurance, international business, management, marketing, media studies, public relations, public or healthcare administration, supply chain and valuation.
Relevant experience may include professional work in business, commerce or management.
Note: Successful admission into the double degree means that you must satisfy the requirements for both of the single degrees.

- A workplace reference letter demonstrating their relevant professional experience.
English language requirements
Applicants must provide evidence of at least one of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree completed in a recognised English-speaking country.
- An IELTS overall score of 6.5, with no individual band score below 6.0, or an accepted equivalent.
- Other accepted evidence of English language proficiency.
