Designed for experienced managers moving into senior leadership, the Executive MBA combines intensive residential learning with advanced study across strategy, finance, leadership and organisational decision-making.
Course overview
The Executive MBA is an 18-month residential course for experienced managers preparing for more senior leadership responsibilities. Delivered through 10 intensive on-campus modules at Melbourne Business School’s Carlton campus, including an international module in Asia, the course is structured to minimise disruption to participants’ professional responsibilities.
The curriculum spans leadership, strategy, economics, finance, accounting, marketing, operations, data analysis, negotiation and innovation. Students apply these disciplines to complex organisational decisions, international business environments and real-world strategic challenges, culminating in an integrative business capstone.
Participants stay on campus during the four-day Melbourne modules. Residential accommodation in Melbourne and overseas, along with meals on class days, is included in the program fee. Travel to Melbourne and travel-related costs for the Asia module are not included.

Entry requirements
To be considered for entry into this program, you must have:
- An undergraduate degree.
- At least five (5) years of documented full-time management work experience.
Applicants without formal tertiary qualifications should contact us to discuss alternative entry criteria.
You must submit:
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV).
- Four personal statements relating to your goals and how you can contribute to the program.
- Evidence of all qualifications completed and incomplete, including academic transcripts with grading schema.
- A valid passport or verified document showing current citizenship/residency status.
- The names and contact details of two professional referees.
Note, a compulsory interivew is required for short-listed students.
English language requirements
All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved through recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English-language test. If you need to undertake an English-language test, you must meet one of the following requirements:
- IELTS Academic: Overall score of 7.0, with no individual band below 6.5.
- TOEFL internet-based test: Overall score of 91, with writing 23, speaking 22, reading 19 and listening 19.
- Pearson Test of English Academic: Overall score of 72, with writing 65, speaking 66, reading 64 and listening 64.
- Cambridge C1 Advanced: Overall score of 178, with writing 180, speaking 187, reading 168 and listening 168.
- LanguageCert Academic: Overall score of 73, with writing 71, speaking 76, reading 65 and listening 62.
- Michigan English Test: Overall score of 62, with writing 64, speaking 53, reading 59 and listening 59.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Credit through recognition of prior learning may be considered based on relevant previous study or professional qualifications. Fees and FEE-HELP
Indicative program fee in 2027: $133,429 (domestic full-fee paying place)
The program fee includes tuition fees of $118,224 and residential fees of $11,029.
Residential fees include:
- Residential accommodation (in Melbourne and overseas) for the duration of the program
- Meals on class days
Other costs
The program fee does not include travel costs associated with the field study module in Asia, including airfares, airport transfers, visa charges and travel insurance. Students are also responsible for some meals on class days of the module in Asia and incidental expenses incurred during the module, such as telephone, laundry, car parking and other personal charges.
Students located outside Melbourne are responsible for their own travel costs to and from Melbourne for modules based at Melbourne Business School.
FEE-HELP loans are available to assist eligible full-fee paying domestic students.
