The online Graduate Certificate in Business Administration provides a practical introduction to essential business and management disciplines. It is suited to professionals seeking to strengthen their commercial knowledge, prepare for greater responsibility or begin postgraduate business study.

Students complete Business Foundation for Managers and the equivalent of three additional subjects. Available areas of study include accounting, leadership, ethics, data analytics, people management, marketing and managerial economics.

The course is delivered online, with students generally completing one equivalent subject during each study period. Six annual intakes and a duration of eight months or more make it possible to plan study around existing professional commitments.

Graduates who achieve the required academic results may be eligible for direct entry into the MBS Online MBA. This provides a pathway to continue postgraduate business study while receiving recognition for completed subjects.

What you will study

To qualify for the online Graduate Certificate in Business Administration, you must complete four subjects, totalling 50 credit points, over eight months.

You will study the equivalent of one subject (12.5 credit points) each study period. There are two half-subjects (6.25 credit points) listed below.

Entry requirements

To apply for the Melbourne Business School Online Graduate Certificate in Business Administration, applicants must have:

  • An undergraduate degree and at least two years of documented full-time professional work experience; OR
  • A minimum of six years of documented full-time professional experience; AND
  • Meet the University's English language requirements.

English language requirements

Documentary evidence of meeting the accepted minimum scores within the previous 24 months may be required.

The minimum accepted scores are:

  • IELTS Academic: overall score of 7.0, with no band below 6.5
  • TOEFL iBT: overall score of 91, with writing 23, speaking 22, reading 19 and listening 19
  • PTE Academic: overall score of 72, with writing 65, speaking 66, reading 64 and listening 64
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced: overall score of 178, with writing 180, speaking 187, reading 168 and listening 168
  • LanguageCert Academic: overall score of 73, with writing 71, speaking 76, reading 65 and listening 62
  • Michigan English Test: overall score of 62, with writing 64, speaking 53, reading 59 and listening 59

Recognition of Prior Learning

Fee per subject in 2026: $5,308 (domestic full-fee paying place)

Total program fee in 2026: $21,232 (domestic full-fee paying place)

All costs are calculated using current rates and are based on a study load of four subjects per year.
