Entry requirements

Academic requirements

To be considered for entry into this course, you must have:

  • A 3- or 4-year undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65% (or equivalent).

Relevant disciplines include commerce, mathematics, physics, computer science, information systems, engineering and science.

English language requirements

All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved in a number of ways, including recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English language test.

If you are from a non-English speaking background, the required standard of English for this degree is one of the following English proficiency test scores:

  • IELTS (Academic) – 7.0 overall, with no band less than 7.0.
  • TOEFL IBT – minimum score of 94 (written score minimum 27 and no individual score lower than 24).
  • PTE – minimum score of 72, with written communicative skill of 75 and no other communicative skill below 72.

Recognition of Prior Learning
