What you will study

To earn the Master of Cyber Security, you must complete 150 credit points comprised of 12 subjects. You must choose one of the following pathways:

Research pathway

Entry requirements

In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have either one of the following:

  • An undergraduate degree in information technology or any related field with a weighted average mark of at least 65%.
  • An undergraduate degree in any discipline, with a weighted average mark of at least 65% and at least two years of relevant full-time work experience (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of six years of relevant full-time work experience (or equivalent).

Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection.

English language requirements

All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved in a number of ways, including a recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English language test.

If you are from a non-English speaking background, the required standard of English for this degree is one of the following English proficiency test scores:

  • TOEFL: 81 (with writing 19, speaking 19, reading 16, listening 16)
  • Pearson: 64 (with no communicative skill below 60)

Recognition of Prior Learning
