Build advanced nursing skills in clinical practice, applied pathophysiology, evidence-informed care and healthcare quality, with fully online study and workplace-based assessments designed for registered nurses.
Course overview
The Graduate Certificate in Advanced Nursing at the University of Technology Sydney is designed for registered nurses looking to extend their knowledge of advanced clinical care. With a focus on person-centred nursing, the course builds an understanding of clinical decision-making, leadership and evidence-informed practice for nurses working in healthcare settings.
Study across four subjects covering specialty clinical practice, applied pathophysiology, research evidence and approaches to improving safety and quality in healthcare. You'll examine how to apply current evidence to nursing decisions, strengthen communication with other health professionals and consider ethical and culturally responsive care. Learning activities connect these areas to your own clinical environment.
The 24-credit-point course is delivered entirely online and can be completed in a minimum of eight months. Assessments are designed around clinical workplace situations, so you must already be employed as a registered nurse in a healthcare setting. No additional clinical placements are required. After completing the graduate certificate, you may be eligible to continue into the Master of Advanced Nursing, with eight further subjects to complete.
