Course overview

The Graduate Certificate in Child and Family Health at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is designed for registered nurses and midwives looking to specialise in child and family healthcare. The course focuses on family-centred care, supporting parents and caregivers and responding to children's health and developmental needs.

Across four subjects (24 credit points), you'll explore the foundations of child and family health, family and community health practice and child development from infancy through the preschool years. The course includes 120 hours of in-person clinical placement across two subjects, providing opportunities to apply your knowledge in child and family health settings.

Delivered online with compulsory in-person placements, the course can be completed in 8–10 months. Graduates may also be eligible to progress to the Master of Women's and Children's Health. However, this qualification does not meet Victorian Government requirements for practice as a Child and Family Health practitioner in Victoria. Applicants intending to practise in this role in Victoria are advised not to apply. Those seeking alternative study pathways may wish to explore related UTS qualifications, including the Graduate Certificate in Women’s and Children’s Health, or other health courses that may better align with their professional goals.
