Course Overview

The Doctor of Philosophy in Management (ODL) gives students the opportunity to conduct groundbreaking research in the fields of business and management. This research-based programme allows individuals to delve deeper into emerging disciplines, contribute to the enhancement of current business and management practices, and expand the body of knowledge related to these fields. Led by experienced faculty, this course is designed to help students gain an in-depth understanding of research methodologies and hone their critical thinking and analytical skills.

Chartered Management Institute (CMI Accreditation)

Students have the opportunity of enrolling for the APU-CMI Dual Accreditation by registering for a qualification through APU. Students under the Doctor of Philosophy in Management (ODL) course will have the option to also opt-in for a CMI L7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice which will be awarded subject to moderation by CMI.

Open and Distance Learning (ODL)

• The ODL (Open & Distance Learning) PhD programmes are designed to address the theoretical, practical and scientific skills and contribute towards new and meaningful knowledge in their field of expertise.
• ODL allows students to learn anytime, anywhere at their own pace.
• Students will reinforce their independent learning skills, as well as demonstrate their ability to produce a professional document.
• The delivery will consist of online meetings and consultation through online chat, coupled with Asynchronous learning materials on the campus Learning Management System.
• There is an option to undertake additional research workshops organised jointly by Graduate School of Technology and Graduate School of Business.
• Students must participate in online research seminars/colloquiums/conferences.
• Assessment of the fundamental knowledge is carried out through assessment of the students’ performance based on oral and written assessment. The final assessment is the viva voce and the dissertation.
• Open Distance Learning (ODL) PhD students at APU will need to take the Research Methods Modules and subsequently produce the Dissertation.
