Upon completion of your doctoral studies at Monash, you will be able to demonstrate that you have successfully designed and executed a research project that makes a substantial contribution to your discipline.
Course Overview
The Doctor of Philosophy consists of an extensive, independent research project in your discipline of choice, supported by a minimum of two academic supervisors throughout your candidature. You'll produce a thesis that contributes to the field of business and economics.

Course Structure
This course consists of a research and thesis component as well as a coursework study program.
Each student will be assigned to the program most relevant to their research focus. At Monash University Malaysia, only the following programs are available:

Fees are estimation on overall completion of the programme. In any cases where there are credit exemptions, offered rebates or approval of scholarship applications, there may be a reduction in the fees. Fees for international students may differ from those for local Malaysian students.
Entry Requirements
Academic Qualification
To apply for the Doctor of Philosophy, you must have completed at least one of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree requiring at least four years of full-time study in a relevant field, and which normally includes a research component in the fourth year, leading to an honours 1 or 2A in a relevant field.
- A course leading to a level rated by the University as equivalent to an honours 1 or 2A in a relevant field.
- A master’s degree that entails work, normally including a significant research component, including at least 25% of one full-time equivalent year of work, including a thesis. It is normally expected that a grade of honours 2A has been obtained for the research thesis or project. Where ungraded, examiner’s reports will be taken into account.
- Have qualifications which in the opinion of the Graduate Research Committee and Monash Graduate Research Office are deemed equivalent.
English Language Requirement
You can demonstrate your English language proficiency through one of the following:
- studying English at Year 12 or equivalent.
- studying at an institution where English is the language of instruction.
- English Proficiency Tests.
- Monash English Bridging course.
