Course Structure

The programme consists of two compulsory modules and a thesis. Students from non-related fields and without relevant working experience will need to complete the pre-requisite modules.

Fees are estimation on overall completion of the programme. In any cases where there are credit exemptions, offered rebates or approval of scholarship applications, there may be a reduction in the fees. Fees for international students may differ from those for local Malaysian students.

Entry Requirements

Academic Qualification

To apply for this course, you must meet either one of the criteria below:

  • A Master’s degree in related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate.
  • A Master’s degree in non-related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate, subject to having relevant working experience and rigorous internal assessment.
  • A Master’s degree in non-related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing pre-requisite courses.
  • Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree recognised by the Malaysian Government.

The HEPs can admit excellent Bachelor’s Degree graduates for direct admission to the Doctoral Degree by Research programme with the following conditions:

  • Students have a first class Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Students have obtained a CGPA of at least 3.67 or equivalent from either an academic or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme.
  • Students will be evaluated through a rigorous internal assessment by the HEP.
  • Approved by the HEP Senate and accepted as a candidate for the Doctoral Degree programme. Students must demonstrate appropriate progress during the candidature period.

English Language Requirement

  • Achieve a minimum Band 4 in MUET OR equivalent to CEFR (Mid B2).
