Sunway College, along with prominent institutions like Sunway University and Sunway International School, are part of the Sunway Education Group. The group is owned and administered by the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF), an education-focused social enterprise in Malaysia.

Sunway College students have consistently excelled in the GCE A-Level examination, a globally recognised qualification for entry into top universities. The college is one of Malaysia’s best-performing institutions in the A-Level programme. In the October/November 2022 examination, 53 per cent of Sunway College’s candidates achieved straight As. The college also attained a 100 per cent pass rate among its A-Level students.

For over 30 years, Sunway College has been delivering the Victoria University Bachelor of Business twinning programme. This partnership enables students to study for an Australian bachelor’s degree at Sunway College. Business programme admission requirements

To qualify for admission into your selected course, you will have to fulfil one of the following in the criteria list below.

Applicants need to obtain a certain CGPA, grade or score to enrol in a Sunway College programme. Take a look at the courses at the top of this page for more specific admission requirement details.

Pre-university courses

• SPM/O-Level; OR
• UEC

Diploma courses

• SPM/O-Level; OR
• UEC; OR
• A qualification that is equivalent to a certificate (level 3, MQA) and accredited by the MQA

Victoria University Bachelor of Business

• STPM: CC (C=2.0), based on two academic subjects (10 points); OR
• A-Level: 10 points (CD/DDE), a minimum of two subjects; OR
• Sunway Diploma in Business Administration: minimum CGPA of 2.5; direct entry into the second year of the Victoria University Bachelor of Business; OR
• FIA/FIST: CGPA of 2.0; OR
• International Baccalaureate: Completed with an overall minimum result of 24 points; OR
• Australian matriculation: ATAR of 55; OR
• Canadian matriculation: 55 per cent; OR
• MUFY: 55 per cent; OR
• UEC: A maximum of 26 points on five subjects (A1-B6); OR
• Other qualifications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

For Victoria University’s Bachelor of Business, students are required to possess a sufficient level of English language proficiency by obtaining at least a TOEFL overall internet score of 67, an IELTS score of 6.0 (academic module) and a MUET band 4 or its equivalent.

Sunway College enrolment guide

You can apply for Sunway College courses online. Follow the steps below:

1. Click the APPLY NOW button at the top right corner of the Sunway College homepage.
2. On the Admissions page, select either “Malaysian students” or “international students” according to your nationality.
3. Read and take note of the list of documents that you are required to submit along with your application.
4. Local students will have to submit the following documents and payment:
   • Identity card
   • Certified copies of academic qualifications
   • One recent passport-size photo
5. International students will have to submit the following documents and payments:
   • Health declaration form
   • Digital copies of passport-size photos
   • Colour scanned copy of passport
   • Certified copies of academic qualifications and English language proficiency qualifications
   • Residence application
   • Resume/character reference letter (for applicants above 23 years old; required by the Malaysian Immigration Department)
6. Click on the Apply Online Today link. 
7. Create an account on the Online Application page by submitting your name, email, nationality, identity card/passport number, mobile number and date of birth.
8. Select your chosen Sunway College campus, programme name and intake date.
9. Fill in your details.
10. Submit digital copies of the required documents specified earlier.
11. After submitting your application, you can return to the webpage to check your application status. 
12. Successful applicants will receive their course offer letters via email within a few working days.
13. College staff members will share payment information for your registration and tuition charges at a later date.

Sunway College enrolment and processing fees

When you decide to study a course at Sunway College, a one-time payment for enrolment is required. International students should be prepared to pay a visa processing fee as well.

Sunway College scholarships and financial aid

Find out if you are eligible for a Sunway College scholarship or discount. National loan programmes like the Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) can also help finance your studies. Apart from that, you might want to consider:

College scholarships

Sunway College Special Scholarship
Local and international students who have excelled in their secondary school studies and extra-curricular activities are eligible for this scholarship.

Successful applicants will receive a tuition fee waiver between RM4,000 and RM16,000 for their chosen Sunway College course.

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

• Attain at least a grade A (score of 70 per cent) in four subjects in your SPM/O-Level/IGCSE/OSSD trial examination
• Be actively involved in extra-curricular activities (clubs and societies, competitions and events, and community initiatives)

Jeffrey Cheah Entrance Scholarship
This scholarship is available to local or international students who are applying for Sunway College pre-university courses, diploma courses, professional accounting courses and bachelor’s degrees.

Successful applicants for this Sunway College scholarship will be granted an amount ranging from RM2,000 to a full scholarship. The scholarship amount awarded to a recipient is determined by their academic results - be it percentage score, grade or CGPA - in secondary school, pre-university courses or diploma courses. 

Sunway Sports Scholarship
The scholarship is available to Malaysian national and state athletes studying Sunway College (KL) courses.

National athletes could receive a full tuition fee waiver, while state athletes may be granted a 50 per cent fee waiver. To be eligible for the scholarship, you are required to meet the following criteria:

• National athletes must be in the starting line-up in their respective sports' national teams
• Have participated in SUKMA/MSSM (for state athletes)
• Only athletes in selected sports are eligible for the Sunway Sports Scholarship. These include archery, athletics (track and field, javelin, long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put and discus), badminton, basketball, tenpin bowling, international chess, table tennis, taekwondo (WT), tennis, squash and swimming*

* If an applicant’s chosen sport is not on the list, it will then fall under the discretion of the Sunway University/Sunway College (KL) Scholarship Committee to accept their application and/or to grant an interview.

Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Community Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to Malaysian students aged between 18 and 25 who need financial aid.

Successful applicants will receive a full tuition fee waiver and funds for accommodation at the Sun-U Apartment Hostel, course book purchases and monthly expenses.

To be eligible for this Sunway College scholarship, applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

• Be a Malaysian citizen aged between 18 and 25
• Reside at a residential care home or a community centre
• Belong to a household with a monthly income of RM3,000 or below
• Possess a SPM/O-Level/UEC/STPM qualification or its equivalent
• Meet the minimum entry requirements for their chosen programme

Successful applicants are required to maintain satisfactory academic results throughout the duration of their studies.

As scholarship recipients, students will need to participate in certain group counselling sessions, talks and workshops. They are also expected to take part in projects organised by the Welfare Unit, Student LIFE and Sunway Student Ambassadors (SSA) as part of their contribution to Sunway College (KL) and the campus community.

At the end of every semester, recipients are required to submit a copy of their academic progress report to the Welfare Unit at Student LIFE.

Sunway-Teach For Malaysia Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to economically disadvantaged Malaysian students who show promising academic potential.

Successful applicants will receive a full tuition fee waiver for the following Sunway College (KL) courses.

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

• Be a Malaysian citizen below 25 years old
• Receive recommendations from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and children’s welfare homes for the scholarship
• Belong to a household with a monthly income below RM5,000
• Achieved at least 5 As in SPM or a minimum CGPA of 2.8 in STPM or an equivalent qualification
• Actively participate in extra-curricular activities during their secondary school years

Sunway Education Group-Elena Cooke Education Fund
The fund aims to enable economically disadvantaged students to pursue quality higher education after SPM.

Successful applicants will receive a full tuition fee waiver, a general fee waiver (excluding refundable deposits, accommodation at the Sun-U Apartment Hostel and allowances for course book purchases and living expenses.

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

• Be a Malaysian citizen below 23 years of age
• Achieve at least 3 As in SPM, 2 Bs in STPM or 6 Bs in UEC during pre-university studies
• Belong to a household with a yearly income of RM60,000 or below
• Meet the entry requirements for their chosen Sunway College courses
• Have not commenced a Sunway College course

Sibling and parent alumni discount
A RM500 sibling discount on tuition fees will be granted to a Sunway University/Sunway College (KL) student if they have a sibling studying simultaneously at the same institutions.

• The discount is only applicable if both students have settled their tuition fees in full
• Only the sibling who enrolled at a later date will receive this discount
• Students with siblings who have completed their studies at Sunway University/Sunway College (KL) are also eligible for this discount

If a student’s parent has completed their studies at Sunway University/Sunway College (KL), they can receive a RM500 parent alumni discount on tuition fees.

Eligibility criteria:

• Malaysian students and international students can apply for these discounts
• These discounts are applicable to all Sunway College courses except for part-time courses and short courses
• Applicants must be registered as a Sunway College student
• The discount is in the form of a tuition fee waiver. It will not be deducted from any general registration, application or exam fees
• This discount is a one-off deduction for new registrants only. The discount is not valid for students who are returning, repeating or continuing their studies
• The final decision to grant the discount is at the sole discretion of the college’s admissions unit
