UniKL business programme admission requirements
Bachelor Degrees
To apply for one of these UniKL courses, you must meet one of the following in the criteria list below:
- Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or its equivalent with at least grade C (GP2.0) in any two subjects and a pass in mathematics and English at SPM level; OR
- Pass Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Jayyid and a pass in Mathematics and English at SPM level; OR
- Any qualifications equivalent to a diploma or advanced diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
- Matriculation/foundation qualification with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00; OR
- Pass A-Level with at least a grade D in two subjects and a pass in mathematics and English at O-Level; OR
- Pass International baccalaureate (IB) with at least 24 points; OR
- Pass the Higher National Diploma (HND) (MQF Level 4) in a related area (recognised by the Malaysian government and approved by the UniKL Senate); OR
- Twelve years of schooling with the following conditions: It is the highest school qualification in the student’s country of origin; it can be used as an entry qualification for bachelor’s degrees in the student’s country of origin; OR
- Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM)/ Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM)/ Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) Qualification: Applicants can either pass the Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM)/ Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia (DLKM)/ Diploma Vokasional Malaysia (DVM) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 subject to the approval of the Senate / Academic Board or Pass the DKM/DLKM/DVM with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and have at least two years of work experience in the related field.
International students are required to possess a sufficient level of English language proficiency by obtaining at least an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent for any of these UniKL bachelor’s degrees.
Masters's degrees by coursework
To apply for one of these courses, you must meet one of the following, in the criteria listed below:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or an equivalent qualification from another institution of higher learning that is approved by the UniKL Senate; OR
- Bachelor’s degree with a CGPA below 2.50 and at least five years of work experience
Master's degrees by research
To apply for one of these courses, you must meet one of the following, in the criteria listed below:
- Bachelor’s degree from UniKL or another institution of higher learning that is recognised by the UniKL Senate with a CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent in a related field; OR
- An applicant with at least two years of relevant work experience and a bachelor’s degree with a CGPA between 2.50 and 2.75 is acceptable for admission after a rigorous internal assessment; OR
- An applicant with at least five years of relevant work experience and a bachelor’s degree with a CGPA that is less than 2.50 is acceptable for admission.
PhDs by research
To apply for one of these courses, you must meet one of the following, in the criteria listed below:
- Master’s degree from UniKL or any other institution of higher learning that is recognised by the senate; OR
- A qualification equivalent to a master’s degree
International students are required to possess a sufficient level of English language proficiency by obtaining at least a MUET band score of 4.0, CEFR (mid B2) or equivalent for any of these UniKL master’s degrees and PhDs.

You can apply for UniKL courses online. The university has separate undergraduate and postgraduate online admission platforms. Just follow the simple steps below:
How to apply for an undergraduate programme
- Visit the UniKL undergraduate admission webpage
- Click the APPLY button
- An online application form will pop up. Fill in your name, identity card (IC) number and highest academic qualification
- Complete additional details about your secondary schooling and university qualifications
- Enter your chosen course
- Fill in your personal details and submit your course application form
- After submitting your application, you can return to the webpage to check your application status
How to apply for a postgraduate programme
- Visit the UniKL postgraduate admission webpage
- Click on your chosen postgraduate course from the list
- On the course page, click on the APPLY NOW button
- Enter your IC number or passport number (for non-Malaysians) when prompted
- Enter your personal details, academic background, English proficiency level, work experience and details about your intended research areas, financial support and referees
- You will be requested to submit digital copies of a passport-size photo, IC, research proposal, curriculum vitae, bachelor scroll, academic transcripts and other relevant documents
- You can return to the webpage to update your application and check on your application status

UniKL scholarships and financial aid
If you are seeking financial assistance, the university offers scholarships through its Yayasan UniKL programme.
You can also apply for support through government education loan initiatives from the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and the Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN). Other financing options include the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Account 2 withdrawal and bank loans.
University scholarships
Yayasan UniKL scholarships
This scholarship programme is only open to UniKL students who have received offer letters for one of UniKL’s foundation programmes (Foundation in Science and Technology, Foundation in Business, Foundation in Computer Technology, Foundation in Science or Foundation in Medical Science):
To be eligible for this scholarship programme, you have to meet the following requirements:
- Be a Malaysian citizen from the B40 income group
- Attain at least a grade A in any three subjects for your SPM examination
- Maintain a CGPA of 3.00 throughout the duration of your foundation course study
- Must not be a recipient of any full scholarship/financial assistance from another organisation

National education loan initiatives
MARA education financing (for Bumiputera students)
The Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) provides education loans and sponsorships for undergraduate and postgraduate Bumiputera students who are in need of financial assistance for their studies.
