UNITAR International University admission requirements and process
Entry Requirements:
Bachelor’s degrees:
- Complete a pre-university programme; requirements vary depending on the course
- Local: MUET Band 2 and a pass in English and mathematics at the SPM level or equivalent qualifications
- International students: English Language with a minimum score of 46 for TOEFL or a minimum score of 5.5 for IELTS
Master’s degrees:
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent; OR
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, subject to internal assessment; OR
- International students: English language with a minimum score of 60 for TOEFL or a minimum score of 6.0 for IELTS
Doctorate:
- A master’s degree in a related or non-related field subject to internal assessment
- International students: English language with a minimum score of 60 for TOEFL or a minimum score of 6.0 for IELTS
How to apply
The online application is open throughout the year. Candidates can find the application on UNITAR’s website. Complete the form with the required information and the university will be in touch.
If you possess other equivalent qualifications, such as a foundation or diploma from another institution, you are required to submit the following documents:
- A certified copy of the certificate of completion
- A certified copy of your academic transcripts
- All relevant information and materials related to your previous studies from SPM onward

Local students:
- Printed registration form
- For undergraduate students: Original results of SPM, STPM, A-Levels, certificate or diploma alongside academic transcripts and documents of other academic qualifications
- For postgraduate students: Original results of SPM, bachelor’s or master’s degree scroll, academic transcripts and documents of other academic qualifications
- Original and photocopy of your identity card
- Original and certified copy of MUET result (if applicable)
- Three passport-size photographs
International students:
- Application form
